Monica Wilson MSN, APRN, GCNS-BC, CWON has been an RN since 1987. After
spending time in pediatrics and adult oncology, I landed in the homecare setting at
Kaiser Permanente in California, covering RN caseloads for 10 years. Since a large
segment of the homecare population are treated for wounds, this became an area
of expertise, without really knowing it.
In 2006, I completed my MSN and Clinical Nurse Specialist education, subsequently
working as a CNS at the VA Medical Center in San Diego, as well as adjunct faculty in
Point Loma Nazarene University’s nursing program (my alma mater for BSN and MSN
degrees).
In 2014, I decided to make my passion for wound healing the last chapter of my
nursing career. I obtained my Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse education from Emory
University in Atlanta, Georgia. I spent 3 years as a CWON in a hospital system, then
moved to North Carolina in 2017 for a change of pace. A Wound/Ostomy Nurse
Specialist position at Duke Homecare was opened to me, which combined the best
of all worlds. Healing wounds, helping patients live to their fullest with an ostomy, and
educating nurses to do the same brings me great satisfaction!
Continuing Education:
This activity is eligible for 3.75 nurse contact hours.
The Association for Home & Hospice Care of North Carolina is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Registration: Registration begins at 9:15am, the workshop will begin promptly at 9:45am and conclude by 2:00pm. Please register each attendee on a separate form - you may duplicate this form as many times as you need.
Cancellation and Substitution Policy: Fees will be refunded, or invoices will be adjusted, only if written notice of cancellation is received by AHHC one week prior to the event. In the event of cancellation, AHHC
will retain, or charge, 50% of the initial registration fee, per registrant, to cover administrative overhead.
Once written cancellation is received, an AHHC staff member will review for approval. If your cancellation is
approved, we will email back a signed and dated copy of the cancellation that your agency should retain on
file in case of questions. Substitutions may be made up to the day of the event. Please contact info@ahhcnc.
