Identifying and Reporting Abuse and Neglect in Hospice in NC
Please join us for a 2 hour educational presentation on reporting abuse and neglect in North Carolina. This presentation will cover rules and laws regarding North Carolina Adult Protective Services and the North Carolina Healthcare Personnel Investigations Unit. This presentation will also review some of the North Carolina reporting rules and requirements in adult care homes and long term care settings to help hospices who provide care in these settings to better understand their role in reporting abuse and neglect.

PART I: RULES AND LAWS REGARDING NC ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES
A representative from the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) will discuss general policies and laws of Adult Protective Service (APS) in North Carolina, recognizing abuse, neglect, and exploitation of a disabled adult, and how to make an Adult Protective Services report.
PART II: RULES AND LAWS REGARDING THE NC HEALTHCARE PERSONNEL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT
A representative from the NC Health Care Personnel Investigations (HCPI) unit at the NC Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) will review HCPI laws related to reporting reportable allegations (i.e. abuse, neglect, etc.)
PART III: ADULT CARE HOME AND LONG TERM CARE SETTINGS: REPORTING RULES AND LAWS THAT HOSPICES NEED TO KNOW
Representatives from the NC Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) will review rules, laws and reporting requirements that hospices need to be aware of as they provide care in adult care home or long term care settings. This session will help hospices understand their roles and responsibilities in reporting abuse and neglect within these settings.
